We’re all looking for it now-a-days, a car that can keep driving by a gas station without having to stop for refueling. Because as we all have come to notice, a gas station can be a very scary place. I wish that I could say, “back in our day, we used to spend this much on gas” like my parents did but honestly, it’s only been two years and I can definitely feel the rate hike. The pain is located near my backs side, f.y.i.

Two years ago I could fill up my Honda Civic with $25. Now, every time I stop for gas, I feel like I’m being mugged due to my wallet being more empty than it should be. I now spend almost $50 just to fill up the tank. My sister, who owns a Chevy Tahoe, spends upwards of $90 in mid-grade alone, and the prices are just going to keep rising. So, whether you’re an environmentalist or not, we’re all looking for new alternatives to Bush’s gasoline.

Aptera Car

Enter the Aptera Typ-1 300MPG, the 300MPG stands for ‘300 miles per gallon’ by the way. Preposterous? Maybe, but Aptera is serious about this claim. Aptera motors currently unveiled two models, the first being a hybrid consisting of an all electric drive train coupled to a small gas engine that can achieve 300mpg. Sexy. The second only has a total range of 120 miles, being fully electric. Either way, both vehicles would need to be plugged in to recharge. Still, 300 miles per gallon…Wow.

Aptera Car

The look of Apteras hybrid is one straight out of a Sci-Fi movie. The car itself looks tiny. In fact, I’m not even sure I can call it a car since the Department of Motor Vehicles recognizes it as a motorcycle. I think I’ll take the producers word for it though. Sleek and somewhat amphibious looking, the vehicle carries a look like no other. Kinda reminds me of a frog sitting, except this frog has style. Check out the pics and decide for yourself.

Aptera, meaning “Wingless Flight” in Greek, has said that the Typ-1 300MPG will be released to the public for under $30,000. On the downside, Aptera is only taking reservations from southern California with a $500 fee. Apparently Aptera has already taken in over 400 reservations. The rest of us are just going to have to wait until the hybrid pushes it’s way towards the East Coast.
