LaCie recently unveiled this slickly designed half terabyte external hard to increase the home entertainment experience for hardcore moviegoers. Not much is known about it yet, but from what we’ve heard, this awesome little piece of tech gear features DivX compatibility and is plug-n-play operational with standard television systems. It also displays JPEGs and MP3s, letting you browse through your favorite photos and music right from your living room.
Something else that this device offers, which in my opinion is quite amazing, is the optical digital audio output for Dolby Digital 5.1 it supports, making it just that much better. The LaCie 500GB Silverscreen Multimedia HD is by far one of the best HDs I’ve seen in awhile, although I do prefer Apple’s iTV design over this one, this HD is quite attractive.
Additionally, this LaCie HD is reportedly able to be upscaled via component to display HDTV correctly, along with wireless remote capabilities for easy access. There’s no word on when exactly the device will be available, but on the upside, the writers over at engadget say that it will be listed for probably around $338 (€240). Now, that’s a fair deal for all the great features it brings.
Here’s a list of LaCie Hard Drives.
